Scairt Amach/Shout Out: Irish Republican Prisoners' Art

Scairt Amach/Shout Out is the proof book of a photo exhibit of the same name produced over several years in Northern Ireland and completed in 1993. The images depict samples of artwork created by imprisoned Irish Republicans. The text outlines the relationship between politics and art, art and identity, and independence of mind and spirit as a result of this discourse. (The photos and captions are part of the political collection of the Linen Hall Library in Belfast, Northern Ireland.) This book is a record of the project more than a work unto itself. I have published it here as an academic reference. Contact me directly for original prints.

A collection of poems that explores the influence of memory and imagination on my perception of immediate reality. The poems celebrate moments of ordinary existence and the power of each to reveal essential truths.

The House of Mourning -- Manuscript ID: 9087211
A collection of short stories that explores the ways in which perceptions form an individual's identity. Each story explores the influence of circumstances on a moment--at the beach, in the car, before a wedding--and how a person internalizes those circumstances to become them. We are time.

Eamonn's Wife -- Manuscript ID: 5104196
A novel about an IRA woman who meets an Irish expatriate and his English wife while the three are riding a train into the West of Ireland. Conversation between Eamonn's Wife and the young husband lead to complications in the lives of both as well as their spouses at the same time they raise troubling questions about the nature of political identity.
